Wines of Texas was born from a return home.
I grew up in Austin and the Texas Hill Country, with family roots in Dripping Springs stretching back generations. After college, I moved back to our family ranch while my parents operated Barton Creek Vineyards. One season, we sold our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to Becker Vineyards — our first and only harvest sold commercially — and that experience gave me a deep respect for the work, patience, and craftsmanship behind Texas wine.
Years later, after our family sold the ranch, I thought that chapter was over.
“Then I met my wife, Malana, in Dripping Springs — only minutes from the land I never stopped loving.”
Wines of Texas grew from that return home. This site is our way of celebrating the wineries, people, landscapes, and stories that make Texas wine country unlike anywhere else.
What we’re building
I’m not a lifelong vineyard owner or a polished wine critic. I’m an inventor and entrepreneur who spent years building businesses in completely different industries. But wine — and especially Texas wine — always stayed connected to something deeper for me: family, land, craftsmanship, history, and place.
This site is about celebrating the people who followed their passion for wine and built something extraordinary in Texas Hill Country.
We want to tell those stories.
Today, Malana and I are building Wines of Texas together as we build our life together — exploring the wineries, landscapes, people, and experiences that make Texas wine country one of the most special places in the world.
I can’t think of a better reason to come back home.
